Born in Košice, he is one of the most important figures of contemporary Slovak poetry. Until 1989, he waspart of the Košice literary, artistic and intellectual underground. Since the 1990s, he has worked as an editor and graphic designer. He made his debut as a poet in 1989 with the collection Súkoromné hodin smútku (Private Grief Lessons). He is also the author of several books for children, for example the fairy tale book Tuláčik a Klára (Tuláčik and Klára, 2002) and the comic book Šlabikár päťmestia (The Speeling Book of Five Cities, 2013). He won the Dominik Tatarka Award for his last poetry collection titled viety (sentences, 2021). He lives in Ulož near Levoča.
