Václav Kostelanski (* 1982) is the winner of the 2010 literary competition Poviedka and the author of the short story books Chuť zabiť (Feel like Killing, 2013), Incident (2014) and Virtuóz (2018). In 2012, the DSD – Napíšte si výpoveď theatre dramatized his short story Nevešaj hlavu (Na cencúľ si siahnuť nedám) (Don’t Hang Your Head. I’m Not Letting Anyone Touch the Icicle). In 2024, KK Bagala publishing house published his novella Sekať dobrotu (Being Good).
Kostelanski claims that after prison and a reform school, he is now working as a special educator and leading a happy life in a small town. “Nothing has changed in my biography – born in 1982 in Považská Bystrica, originally an electrical engineer and then a construction worker, unemployed, a student at the Faculty of Education, a teacher at a re-education centre, a prison guard and currently a special education teacher at an elementary school. Nothing has happened in recent years that would be worth writing on my CV and might interest someone.”
