Soňa Uriková: … and she would have sung a song but somehow she didn’t feel like it

Soňa Uriková (*1988) comes from Plevník-Drienové, the birthplace of the significant Slovak writer and signatory of Charter 77 Dominik Tatarka. She studied scriptwriting and dramaturgy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. Her first book of short stories Live Hedges came out in 2015. She has published a children’s book Jašo at the Market (2020) and another book of stories A Reason for Joy (2022), which received the Anasoft litera Prize in 2023. “When I work on a project I realise how it started, developed and finished, and that I may move it further. This arch and story are important aspects of my life. That’s how I work and how I also perceive art,” she told Patrik Garaj in an interview for Denník N.
