Silvia Kaščáková, born in Prešov in 1976, writes poetry and song lyrics for classical, popular and gospel music. She is also a teacher and a translator. With Jana Juhásová she co-wrote an unconventional guide to poetic genres and artistic tools for writing poetry: A Dictionary of Ditties (2023). Her first collection Feeding the Lion came out in 2015, followed by How Paľko Dobšinský Collected Fairy Tales, and in 2023, she published a poetry collection with the theme of death and dying as well as love, entitled The Austrian Retirement Home.
