Marek Hudec is a Slovak journalist, writer and producer. He was born in Nové Zámky in 1990. His first publication was the fantasy book Simple Tales (2018). In his documentary novel The Knot (2022) he delves into the wounds left behind in Nové Zámky by tonnes of falling bombs. His most recent project is a graphic novel A Great Distance (2024) written with Eduard Klen. “It was my grandmother who led me to the topic of bombing in my childhood. When I was 12 or 13, during one summer, we asked her with my sister to write down some stories because we also always gave her our own stories to read. We gave her an empty exercise book and a few months later she gave it back to us, full of writing, but not of her stories but of her memories.”
