Jana Juráňová: Which literature is the feminist one?
 – Slovakia

Jana Juráňová is a writer, dramatist, translator and journalist. Born in 1957, she comes from Senica. She studied Russian and English at the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava. In 1993, together with her women collaborators, she established the feminist cultural, educational and publishing project Aspekt. Her work has won numerous awards. “One could ask what a feminist reflection of literature is, no matter if written by women or men, and that certainly is a very interesting topic. I hold feminist views, I am proud of them, despite the conflicting nature of the word, but I certainly wouldn’t dare answer the question which literature is the feminist one and if that applies to my work,” says Juráňová in an interview in Ľuboš Jurík’s book Interviews After All Those Years (2011).
