Born in 1985 in Prešov, she studied Slovakian language and literature at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prešov. She debuted with a collection of short stories Usadenina (Sediment, 2013), for which she received an award in the poll Debut of the Year. Some texts from this book have been translated into German, English, Serbian and Hindi.
Productions of Stoka theatre and Prague-based Nekroteatro have been based on her novella Bordeline (2014). Gibová’s third book barbora, boch & catharsis (2016) was a finalist in the Anasoft Litera award in 2017 and received the René Award; it has also been translated into German and Czech. Her next book Eklektik Bastard (2020) has also placed in the top ten of Anasoft Litera and received the Panta Rhei Award. Gibová initiated a book project Mastný muž (A Greasy Man, 2023), a collection of eleven short stories on the same topic written by eleven significant Slovakian authors. For her book Babička© (Grandma©, 2023) she has recieved Anasoft Litera award 2024 and Nadácie Tatra banky award for art 2024. The book was published in Czech and is currently being translated into six other languages.
