Daniel Majling: Don’t gobble chilli at night!

Daniel Majling (1980) comes from Revúca. He studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and works now as a dramaturg at the Slovak National Theatre. His first book was the comic Rudo (2015), appearing first as an online series. Russian Classics (2017) is his first book of prose, and it was not only shortlisted for the Anasoft litera Award, but also received the Readers’ Prize and the René (Anasoft litera) Prize in 2018. His comic book The Zone came out in 2020, and Gemer in 2023, the first volume of a three-part graphic novel. “There’s nothing worse than if someone starts writing a novel without having anything to say. Or if whatever they want to say is enough for no more than an essay,” he says.
