Barbora Hrínová: An introverted observer with a sense of subtle humour

Barbora Hrínová (* 1984) is a novelist and screenwriter, currently working as a teacher at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She has created several radio plays and audio documentaries for RTVS and Czech Radio. She is a three-time finalist in the literary competition Povideka. She has been on research stays in Georgia and, as a Fulbright scholarship holder, also in the USA, in California.

For her book debut, the collection of short stories Jednorožce (Unicorns, 2020), she received the prestigious Anasoft Litera award 2021 and the René award – Anasoft Litera by high school students’. Five years after her debut collection, her novel Plachý dom (A Bashful House) was recently published by Artforum.
