Adania Shibli: Minor details of the Palestinian tragedy
 – Palestine

Adania Shibli (عدنية شبلي) was born in Palestine in 1974. She is not only a writer but also a media and cultural studies scholar who has studied and taught in the UK and Palestine. She has written several novels and books of essays. In addition to her award-winning novels Touch (2010, Masaas, مساس) and We Are All Equally Far From Love (2012, Kulluna Ba'id bethat al Miqdar aan el-Hub, كلنا بعيد بذات المقدار عن الحب), she is particularly known for her novel The Subsidiary Detail (2017, Tafsílu thánawí, تفصيل ثانوي, to be published in Czech this year in a translation by Jitka Jeníková), which caused a scandal at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2023. Following this media attack, the author was supported by over a thousand leading writers and intellectuals, including Nobel laureates Annie Ernaux, Abdulrazak Gurnah and Olga Tokarczuk.
