Ján Gavura:

Born in Poprad in 1975, Ján Gavura studied Slovak and English at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prešov and Catholic theology at the Theology Institute in Spišská Kapitula. Since late 1990s, he works at the Department of Slovak Literature and Literary Studies of Prešov University (as a senior lecturer since 2001). He writes poetry, prose, scholarly monographs on literature and literary history and is a literary critic. His latest poetry collection is titled Král hlad (King Hunger, 2017) and depicts “a natural and human world depicted as a set of poetic probes and parables about cruelty and beauty.”
