Who is Kobold?

Screenwriter, translator and dramaturge, author of monographs of Evald Schorm (Sám sobě nepřítelem, 1998) and of Petr Lébl (Smrt nebudeš se báti, 2008); she wrote novels A já pořád kdo to tluče (2005), Peníze od Hitlera (2006) and Kobold (2011). She was born in Kutná Hora in 1968, she studied German and Czech studies at Charles University, then she worked in the Institute of Czech Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and as a dramaturge in theatre Divadlo Na zábradlí. She has been freelance since 2004. She says about the title of her latest novel: “Kobold is a mythological character prolapsed from the deep and a model type of man at the same time: highly inteligent but he lacks emotional inteligence and social feeling. The real compassion.”
